Return

Hello everyone, long time no post!

I made the decision to return to the snowy, St. Lawrence Island, and I will be continuing this blog with my new adventures.

I will be flying back on July 31st, 2018.  I am excited to return!  I miss many of the wonderful people there!

This year, I will be teaching 2nd grade. This will be great fun.

More Later!

Well, things changed unexpectedly. I wasn't able to fly out until the 7th. My mother passed away and I stayed to help with the arrangements. Flying out was the hardest thing I've done in a while...

Winter Wonderland!

January in Gambell, Alaska

Winter started off pretty tame...

But....then it really began!!

The snow drifts are about to bury our Principal's apartment!

4 wheelers are useless!

The beginning of the snow drift that cuts us off from the school!!!
Four of us had to work together to crawl our way through the drift...after all it was a school day!
Finally, they plowed our path...it was clear for a week, then more snow came and it was back to doing the belly crawl!

Here is how we take out the trash!  Lani has a 4-wheeler loaded down for a dump run. Of course, they have to plow before this can be accomplished!
Gambell in winter is a beautiful sight!

Flying Back to Gambell

After Christmas break, Cody and I flew back to our little island home. The night sky was lit up by the streetlights of Anchorage. I couldn't believe how strait the streets looked!

Part of the Chucagh mountain range

Mt. McKinley (Denali) in the distance :-)

I love the Beautiful ice designs as seen from above. All the squiggly lines are rivers and other waterways that are frozen.

Some look like a long snake!

Some looked like a brain!

Christmas!

I love Christmas and I am so happy I was able to fly home to see my family!
We had a fantastic time, although the break was too short.

Before the deluge of people....Santa has come

Love this picture.
It was given to us by my
 daughter and
son in law!  Beautiful!

I thought it would remind them of the days I ran the
theaters!

Merry Christmas, 2014!!

Thanks to Yuka our fabulous Karate instructor, Catherine and I have earned our yellow belt!

I must tell you I was VERY nervous during our testing, and I did not think I was going to pass, but I did!

My certificate!

Our principal, Mr. Cooper, came and watched us test...
